WELCOME
We are delighted to invite you to join the Oikos Finland 2021 conference that will be held online February 1st–3rd. Join in, share your research and listen to new exciting research questions just being answered! Meet old colleagues, make new ones and develop your knowledge and career! By being held online, the Oikos Finland 2021 conference, hosted by the University of Jyväskylä, will be accessible to even more people than usual. We welcome contributions and participants from all fields of ecology and evolutionary biology.
Our theme this year is "Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in the Changing World – Solutions?". We aim to focus the conference on how ecological and evolutionary research can help human societies to adapt to in a rapidly changing world. Ecosystems are facing several global challenges due to human-induced environmental changes through land use and climate change, direct exploitation, biodiversity loss, pollution, and spread of invasive species. As ecologists and evolutionary biologists, we have the scientific tools and responsibility to test and propose practical solutions to these (global) threats, and incorporate them in our empirical and conceptual studies. We especially encourage talks providing potential solutions to these challenges. In addition to this thematic topic, we will hold sessions on a variety of fields in ecological and evolutionary research ranging from theoretical to applied.
At the Oikos Finland 2021 conference you will enjoy:
Our abstract books for oral and poster presentations and the meeting's program are now available for download!
