Welcome!

GINAMO, NINA, Nord UniversityGjærevollsenteret, and Artsdatabankenare pleased to invite you to our two-day symposium/workshop on the application and implementation of genetic indicators, as recently accepted by the UN Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) for biodiversity monitoring and reporting. The event will be organised in Trondheim on 8-9 May 2025.

On Thursday 8 May (GINAMO stakeholder workshop), we will focus on the application of genetic indicators, and we will invite Norwegian policy makers and nature managers to discuss and facilitate the new reporting duties for genetic indicators to the CBD.

On Friday 9 May (Ne symposium), we will focus on the science behind genetic indicators (mainly the effective population size Ne), and we will invite students and researchers interested in applied conservation genetics. Keynote speakers include Robin Waples (Northwest Fisheries Science Center, Seattle, USA) and Christina Hvilsom (Copenhagen Zoo, Denmark).
